The Tombacco family has been involved in wine making since 1919. It all started thanks to the entrepreneurial spirit of Lodovico Tombacco. The land extends over an incomparably beautiful natural area, nicknamed the Grave di Pappadopoli, an area traditionally known in eastern Veneto for its production of superior quality grapes. Villa Cornaro is one of the most famous and graceful villas ever designed by Andrea Palladio, the great and world-renowned Italian architect from Vicenza. The building was commissioned in 1552 by Giorgio Cornaro, a Venetian nobleman who wanted to have available a dwelling place whose style would come as close as possible to the architecture particular to Venice itself. Palladio's genius lies in his ability to give the building a monumental appearance through the use of a deep balcony and majestic porticoes which make the villa's short wings seem deceptively longer.
